Our research focuses on improving the psychological health and wellness of public safety employees (PSE) through improving resilience and psychological safety in the workplace. This project is funded through a Canadian Institutes for Health Research Team grant, which will support the cost of developing psychoeducational materials, training courses, and help with the implementation of the Canadian Psychological Standard.

Our main goal is to promote resilience in public safety organizations to offer protection to employees from the risk of developing occupational stress injuries and to foster long-term psychological wellness. Over the 3-year span of this project, we will work together with police and fire rescue organizations to improve psychological safety by: (1) examining organizational policy and procedure; (2) mapping a process for the implementation of the Canadian Standard for psychological safety in the workplace; and (3) developing and delivering occupation specific psychoeducational training for active members, civilians, and leadership by incorporating the 3 pillars of resiliencepersonal, family, and workplace resilience.
